devo — Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the devo mobile application (“the app”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
devo is published as an individual developer by Kyuchan Han (Manor, Texas, United States). Contact: kcan0106.kh@gmail.com.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use devo. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Do not impersonate another person or create an account on someone else’s behalf without their explicit consent.
- Notify kcan0106.kh@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, obscene, threatening, harassing, or hateful.
- Post content that infringes another person’s intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Use the app to harass, bully, or stalk another user.
- Attempt to access another user’s account, reflections, or messages without authorization.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of devo infrastructure.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service (denial of service, spam, excessive automated requests).
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract data from the client other than what the API exposes to your own account.
- Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to interact with the service beyond what we explicitly permit.
- Sell, transfer, or sublicense access to the app.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
4. Your content
devo is built around your daily reflections. You retain ownership of everything you post — reflections, photographs, comments, and reactions are yours.
By using the app, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display your content only for the purpose of operating the app for you and the audience you choose. We do not use your content to train any model, sell to third parties, or display in marketing material.
You can delete any reflection, comment, or reaction inside the app at any time. Deletion is final from our side; archival copies in encrypted backups age out per Supabase’s standard retention.
5. Audience and visibility
devo uses a BeReal-style reciprocity model: friends and group members in your chosen audience can only see your reflection if they have also posted that day. We do not control whether your friends forward, screenshot, or share what they see — once another user can see your post, you should treat it as visible to that audience.
A separate “On profile” toggle controls whether a reflection appears on your profile screen. Toggling off does not retract feed visibility from the audience that has already seen the post; it only removes the post from the profile screen.
6. Friend requests, nudges, and notifications
- Friend requests are pair-rate-limited (one push per pair per 24 hours) to prevent abuse. Repeated cancel-and-resend will not generate additional notifications inside the rate window.
- Nudges (a daily push prompting a friend to post) are capped at 3 per sender per local day.
- You can disable any push category in Settings → Notifications.
7. Service availability
devo is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add features, change features, or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice before breaking changes when we can.
8. Termination
You may stop using devo at any time. To delete your account, email kcan0106.kh@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We will permanently delete your account and associated content within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if continued operation poses a security or safety risk.
9. Disclaimers
devo is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment.
We do not warrant that the app will be available, accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use the app at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Kyuchan Han or any contributor to devo be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US$50.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kyuchan Han and any contributor to devo against any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of (a) your use of the app, (b) content you submit, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and post a notice inside the app or via push notification. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
